Kayaking connoisseurs often prefer wood kayaks over kayaks made from other materials. This is because wood kayaks are often custom-built. The kayak can be extremely light or very rugged.

Wood kayaks are made of narrow strips of carefully fitted wood. Then a layer of fiberglass and is contoured to the wood surface. This provides a waterproof shell so that minimum maintenance is required.

Wood kayaks cost more than other types of kayaks. Prices start at approximately 2500 dollars. Custom-made kayaks can cost even more, but kayak enthusiasts love the aesthetic and are willing to pay the price.
