Kayaks

Fishing stores have been outfitting kayaks to catch fish for years. However, it wasn't until 2008 that the first marlin was believed to be hooked from a kayak. Before this no one realized such large game fish could be landed on such a small boat.

A restaurateur from Denver went out with a group of friends in kayaks. They expected a relaxing day of fishing. However, when the fishermen hooked a 60 pound game fish he had a fight on his hands.

After fighting the fish for over an hour and a half other kayakers realized the fishermen needed help. Another kayaker grabbed the kayak with a hand to form a line of kayaks to add more drag to fight the fish. The fisherman reported that eventually his hands went numb. The lesson of the story: remember to always bring along a waterproof camera when fishing from kayaks.
